A repeat customer in Chatswood wanted a home EV charger installed and four fanlights replaced with new light fittings.

The charger needed its own power supply from the switchboard, along with safety protection. A new earth stake was also installed as part of the electrical work.

Captain Cook ran new cable for the charger, added a separate safety switch and circuit breaker, fitted the four customer-supplied lights and completed the earthing work. The finished work was then tested.

The home now has a dedicated EV charging setup, updated lighting and new earthing. Without the work, the property would still have lacked the charging setup the customer wanted and continued relying on its previous earthing arrangement.

Eight outdoor light fittings were replaced at this three-bedroom Collaroy Plateau home, along with a double light switch and LED globes.

During the work, our electrician also found several areas of existing wiring that needed further attention. One light fitting did not have the earth connection needed, so new earth cable was run into the roof space and connected.

The new lights and switch were installed before the completed work was tested and commissioned.

Without the earth connection, a fault at that light fitting could have increased the risk of electric shock.

A repeat customer in Crows Nest needed electrical work completed around the garage roller door.

While Blake was at the four-bedroom home, he also carried out Captain Cook Electrical’s complimentary Home Safety Inspection. The check found a missing earth stake and missing main switches, along with switchboard work that needed attention.

The garage work and switchboard items were completed, with further earthing work identified for follow-up.

Without the safety inspection, these electrical issues could have remained unnoticed and left important safety concerns at the home unaddressed.
